COVID-19 காரணமாக உயிரிழப்பவர்களது ஜனாசாக்களை அடக்கம் செய்கின்ற ஓட்டமாவடி சூடுபத்தினசேனையில் கடந்த 2நாட்களை கழித்த நான், ஒட்டமாவாடி மக்களதும் அங்கிருக்கும் உள்ளூர் அதிகாரிகளதும் தன்னலமற்ற அர்ப்பணிப்பு மற்றும் விருந்தோம்பல் அனைத்தையும் நேரில் கண்டேன், அதற்காக நான் அவர்களுக்கு எனது  நன்றிகளை தெரிவிக்கிறேன்.

கோரளைப்பற்று மேற்கு பிரதேச சபையின் தவிசாளர் மற்றும் உறுப்பினர்களை நான் அங்கு  கண்டேன், அவர்கள் எந்த வித எதிர்ப்பும் இல்லாமல் இந்த அடக்கம் செய்யும் தளத்தை வழங்கி இதனோடு தொடர்பான அனைத்து  நிறுவனங்களுடனும், பிரதேச செயலக அதிகாரிகளுடனும் ஒன்றிணைந்து தேவையான அனைத்து வேலைகளையும் இன்றைய நாள் வரை முன்னெடுக்கிறார்கள்.

அத்துடன் குறித்த செயற்பாட்டில் பிரதேச செயலகம் சார்பில், பிரதேச செயலாளர் /உதவிப் பிரதேச செயலாளர் அல் அமீன் மற்றும் பிரதேச திடீர் மரண விசாரணை அதிகாரி நஸீர் ஹாஜி  ஆகியோரது இரவு பகல் பாராத அர்ப்பணிப்பு மிக்க பணியினை  மெச்சுகிறேன்.

கடந்த சில நாட்களாக பிராந்திய சுகாதார சேவைகள் பணிப்பாளர்,  சுகாதார வைத்திய அதிகாரி, சுகாதார வைத்திய அதிகாரி அலுவலக ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர், சிரேஷ்ட தலைமை தாங்கும் பொது சுகாதார உத்தியாகத்தர்  மற்றும் அவரது ஊழியர்கள் என அனைவரும் மணிக்கணக்கில் நின்று, அங்கு முன்னெடுக்கப்படும் ஒவ்வொரு அடக்கமும்  சுகாதார வழிகாட்டுதல்களின்படி மேற்கொள்ளப்படுவதை உறுதிசெய்து அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் செயலாற்றுவதற்காக  எல்லா நேரங்களிலும் எனது கண்ணியத்தையும் மரியாதையையும் அவர்களுக்கு அளிக்கிறேன் .

இலங்கை இராணுவத்தின் 231ஆவது படைப்பிரிவு மற்றும் வாழைச்சேனை பொலிஸ்  நிலையம் ஆகியவற்றை சேர்ந்த எமது இராணுவ மற்றும் பொலிஸ் உத்தியோகத்தர்கள்  இரவு பகலாக தேவையான அனைத்து பாதுகாப்பு நடவடிக்கைகளையும் மேற்கொள்வதையும், முறையான வழிகாட்டுதல்களின்படி அடக்கம் செய்வதற்கான உடல்களைக் கையாளுதல் என்பவற்றோடு அவ்விடத்திற்கு தேவையான அனைத்து தளபாடங்கள்  தடையின்றி கிடைப்பதை  உறுதி செய்வதையும் நான் கண்டேன்.

ஒட்டமாவாடி வர்த்தகர்கள் சங்கத்தின் தலைவரான திரு. நியாஸ் மற்றும் அவரது குழுவினர்கள் ஒவ்வொரு சில மணிநேரங்களுக்கும் தங்கள் வாகனங்களில் தவறாமல் அந்த இடத்திற்கு வருவதையும் அங்கு கடமையில் இருக்கும் அதிகாரிகள் , இராணுவத்தினர் மற்றும் கூடி இருக்கும் இறந்தவர்களது உறவினர்களுக்கு தேவையான நலன்புரி செயற்பாடுகளிலும் தொடர்ந்தும் ஈடுபடுகின்றனர்.

இறுதியாக கடந்த சில நாட்களாக கோரளைப்பற்று மேற்கு பிரதேச சபையினது தொழிலார்கள் மிகவும் அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் அடக்கம் செய்வதற்கான குழிகளை தோண்டி அதனை மூடுகின்ற பணிகளை கொழுத்தும் வெயிலில் பாதுகாப்பு அங்கிகளை அணிந்தவர்களாக எவ்வித தயக்கமும் எதிர்ப்பும் இன்றி  முன்னெடுக்கின்றனர் 

எங்களது அன்புக்குரியவர்களின் உடல்களை அடக்கம் செய்வதற்கான இடத்தினை வழங்கி , தன்னலமற்ற முறையில் அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் செயலாற்றும் ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும்,  அன்புடன் அனைவரையும் வரவேற்று விருந்தோம்பும்  ஓட்டமாவடியின் அனைத்து  மக்களுக்கும் ஒட்டுமொத்த இலங்கையர்கள் சார்பில் எனது மனமார்ந்த நன்றிகளையும் பாராட்டுக்களையும் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன் .

Having spent the past two days at the COVID-19 Soodupaththinachenai burial site in Oddamavadi, I witnessed firsthand the selfless dedication & hospitality expended by the people of Oddamavadi & local officials towards all present for which I wish to extend a token of gratitude.

I witnessed the Chairman and members of the Koralaipattu West Pradeshiya Sabha, who without protest provided this site & deployed all their resources and manpower towards facilitating the burials of the deceased.

I saw the Divisional Secretary & Assistant Divisional Secretary of the Koralaipattu West Divisional Secretariat along with the Coroner & Sudden Death Inquirer, who went above & beyond their line of duty, standing from dawn till midnight, and ensuring all procedures were followed.

I witnessed the Regional Director of Health, Medical Officer of Health, MOH Coordinator, Chief PHI & his staff toiling for hours over the last few days, ensuring each burial is carried out according to health guidelines, and is afforded dignity & respect at all times.

I saw the members of our military and police, belonging to the 231 Brigade of the Sri Lanka Army and Valaichennai Police, carrying out all requisite security measures, and ensuring seamless logistics of transport & handling of the bodies in accordance with all guidelines.

I witnessed Mr. Niyas, the head of the Oddamavadi Traders Association and his friends, regularly come to the site every few hours in their vehicles packed with refreshments for all of those gathered - officials, military and families of the deceased.

And last but not least, the labourers belonging to the Koralaipattu West Pradeshiya Sabha, who had to perform the backbreaking work of digging and filling multiple graves over the last few days, inundated under PPEs in the scorching sun with no complaints.

I wish to convey the sincere, heartfelt gratitude of all Sri Lankans for the selfless dedication of these individuals & to the people of Oddamavadi for embodying the true Sri Lankan spirit by extending their hospitality & lending us land for a dignified sendoff to our loved ones.
